Twin Disc Pacific Authorised Distributor Countrylink Mobile Mechanical Services in Goondiwindi is the local sales and service agent for Scania and Twin Disc, over the years having installed many Scania engine and Twin Disc PTO combinations to run irrigation systems for their local agricultural clients.
One such client is Cleveland Agriculture who are a large grower of cotton and wheat in the region. Countrylink are proud to report a Twin Disc PTO they installed in 2012 has almost reached 25,000 hours of uninterrupted service, a credit to the product and the quality of the installation. Nick Rowe from Countrylink provides some further details.
WHAT APPLICATION IS THE PTO USED FOR?
The PTO is connected to a Scania engine that helps power a generator and a bore for Cleveland’s irrigation. The generator powers the bore that is attached to a centre pivot and Amarillo right angled coupling to run the irrigation for the bi-annual wheat and cotton crops on the farm.
WHY HAS THIS PTO FUNCTIONED FOR ALMOST 25,000 HOURS WITHOUT ANY ISSUES?
The product is quality but then it’s also really important to get the alignment right. When we installed the system in 2012 we spent ‘quality time’ just getting the alignment right as we’ve seen on a number of occasions where alignment is out and the system just breaks down. If the alignment is right you can expect this type of performance from the product.
WHAT IS IT ABOUT THE TWIN DISC PRODUCTS AND SERVICES YOU APPRECIATE THE MOST?
If you install the products right there are just no failures, they provide incredible peace of mind particularly for large scale operators like the farms we deal with. They cannot afford breakdowns, a 12-24 hour breakdown and the inability to water their crops for this time can have a big impact on their overall yield. The back-up service from Twin Disc is great too, they are reliable, always available and will get parts out to us as promptly as they can.
